Investment Thesis
2025 Usage Snapshot
Xavier Worthy is being priced like a depth receiver, and on the surface, the 2025 usage
supports that price. He was not a full-time fantasy weapon. He ran 381 routes, posted a
66.8% route share, and was used mostly as a vertical threat with a 12.8-yard aDOT.
But that is also what makes him interesting.
Why the Market Is Hesitant
Worthy’s fantasy case is not built on what he already was. It is built on what his role could
become if Kansas City changes how it uses him. With Eric Bieniemy back as offensive
coordinator, Patrick Mahomes returning from injury, and the Chiefs needing more designed
explosiveness, Worthy has a realistic path to more manufactured touches in 2026.
What Could Unlock The Upside
At ADP 117, the market is not asking him to become a locked-in WR2. It is pricing him as a
bench receiver. That creates room for profit if his role expands even modestly.
The Chiefs could have more designed plays to protect Mahomes with him coming back
from injury. Rice adds another layer of uncertainty, both because he is the stronger target
earner and because his off-field situation has made his long-term reliability harder to price.
Worthy has been used primarily as a deep threat target. So increased usage, just being on
the field this year not injured will increase his role and production. Along with Kansas City
making some changes to their offensive play calling will also give additional chances for
Worthy to contribute.
What Could Go Wrong
Rashee Rice = target competition and uncertainty.
Rashee Rice is a dynamic, explosive WR capable of big plays anytime he touches the ball.
Rice has an ADP 29 and a position ranking WR12. That ranks above Malik Nabers and
Garrett Wilson. The talent is there. Reliability is not.
Kenneth Walker = improved run game could lower pass volume
The Chiefs brought in Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker as lead RB to strengthen their weak
RB room. Walker provided reliable production when given the lead role in Seattle after
Charbonnet was injured. Walker will provide a strong running attack to support Chiefs
offense.
Travis Kelce = still commands valuable short/intermediate targets
Travis Kelce put to rest retirement rumors this off season by announcing he will return for
the 2026 season. Kelce had a 74.2% route share and a 0.21 targets per routes run in 2025.
Still strong stats even late in Kelce’s career.
Final Verdict
Worthy is not a safe pick, and he should not be drafted as a locked-in weekly starter. But at
ADP 117, he does not need to be. He only needs his role to expand from vertical-only usage
into more designed touches and weekly involvement. That makes him a worthwhile upside
WR/Flex bet in the later rounds.
