NFL training camps are about to open, and two of the biggest names remaining on the free-agent market are still looking for homes.
Stefon Diggs and Deebo Samuel may not be the same players they were at their absolute peaks, but let’s not confuse that with being finished. These are still proven veteran receivers capable of immediately changing an offense.
The question is no longer whether they can help an NFL team.
The question is which organization finally decides the price and potential reward make sense.
After examining the available reporting, current receiver rooms, coaching connections and potential roles, here is the Delta Fantasy prediction.
Stefon Diggs Will Sign With the Washington Commanders
Diggs is the easier of the two players to project.
He returned from a torn ACL and still produced 85 receptions for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns for New England in 2025. That is not the production of a receiver desperately hanging onto an NFL career. Diggs demonstrated that he can still separate, command targets and function as an important part of a passing attack. �

The hesitation around the league is probably about age, contract expectations and long-term risk—not whether Diggs can still play football.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, at least five teams have checked in with Diggs’ representatives. That amount of reported interest suggests this is more of a waiting game than a lack of market. Teams are allowing training camp to begin before increasing their offers, while Diggs has little reason to accept a discounted contract before injuries and disappointing camp performances create additional leverage. �

Washington stands out from the rest.
The Commanders need another legitimate weapon alongside Terry McLaurin. Deebo Samuel led Washington with only 727 receiving yards last season and is now himself a free agent. The current depth chart lacks a dependable second receiver who can consistently win routes and take pressure away from McLaurin. �

Diggs would not have to carry the entire passing offense. He could operate as the experienced route-running complement to McLaurin while giving Jayden Daniels another receiver capable of getting open in important situations.
There is also a regional connection. Diggs grew up in the Washington-Baltimore area, and the Commanders have repeatedly appeared among the most logical destinations connected to his market. �

The Prediction
Stefon Diggs signs a one-year contract with the Washington Commanders.
The deal will likely contain a moderate guarantee with incentives tied to games played, receptions and team success.

Deebo Samuel Will Sign With the Las Vegas Raiders
Deebo’s market is more difficult to predict.
He finished the 2025 season with 72 receptions for 727 yards, remaining useful as a receiver, runner and manufactured-touch weapon. However, he is no longer the nearly unstoppable player who produced an All-Pro season in 2021. �

That distinction matters.
A team should not sign Deebo and expect him to become a traditional No. 1 receiver. It should sign him with a specific plan: motion, screens, carries, slot work and opportunities to attack linebackers and defensive backs after the catch.
The Raiders are the team that makes the most sense.
Las Vegas does not currently have an established target hog at wide receiver. That creates a legitimate path for Deebo to earn meaningful touches without requiring him to dominate as a pure outside receiver. Recent analysis of his market has also identified the Raiders as one of the clearest opportunities because of their thin receiver depth chart. �

The most important factor is Klint Kubiak.
Kubiak worked with Deebo in San Francisco during the 2023 season. He already understands the player, the personality and the variety of ways Deebo can be deployed. That familiarity reduces the risk of signing a veteran whose value depends heavily on creative usage.
Imagine an offense forcing defenses to account for Ashton Jeanty in the backfield, Brock Bowers over the middle and Deebo moving throughout the formation. Deebo would not need to become the offensive centerpiece. He would become another problem the defense must locate before every snap.
The Los Angeles Chargers have also been identified by NFL.com as a strong theoretical fit. Indianapolis and Kansas City remain possibilities, while a reunion with San Francisco cannot be completely eliminated. �

But the combination of opportunity and coaching familiarity pushes Las Vegas to the top.
The Prediction
Deebo Samuel signs a one-year contract with the Las Vegas Raiders.
It will probably be an incentive-heavy agreement that allows Deebo to rebuild his value while giving Las Vegas an experienced and versatile offensive weapon.

The Final Call
Stefon Diggs to Washington.
Deebo Samuel to Las Vegas.
Diggs remains the more dependable traditional receiver, and Washington provides the clearest combination of quarterback play, opportunity and immediate contention.
Deebo needs the right offensive designer more than he needs the largest contract. Klint Kubiak and the Raiders can provide the role required to squeeze another productive season out of one of the league’s most unique offensive weapons.
